Hello and Welcome!

Red House Books is going through a bit of a update!

I've always had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted this space to be but I've been detoured from my path by...lots and lost of other people's opinions and ways of doing things...

I'm committed to this little chunk of the interweb but I've also branched out into other places so! Now it's time to think of Red House Books as more of a hub of all things me! And Me is a hell of a lot of book love!

Stay tuned!

2011 Debut Authors Reading Challenge

2011 Debut Authors Reading Challenge hosted by The Story Siren

I absolutely love debut authors and what better way to show this love then by challenging myself to read as many YA and MG debut books as possible!

If you would like to participate please see Kristi's post here

There are so many great books coming out in 2011. I know I'll get to at least 12 of them (minimum number to complete the challenge) but it's so hard to pick just 12 right now!

I'll be using my Massive List of 2011 Debut Authors as my own personally guideline but be sure to check Kristi's guidelines for the challenge.

To start though here are some books I know I want to read!

The Water Wars by Cameron Stracher
Across the Universe by Beth Revis
The Iron Witch by Karen Mahoney
Illegal by Bettina Restrepo
Memento Nora by Angie Smibert
Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris
Anna, Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
Razorland by Ann Aguirre
The Pull of Gravity by Gae Polisner

I really could go on and on!

What 2011 Debut Book are you most looking forward to? Will you be participating in this year's challenge?

  2. I'm definitely doing this one again. I read 60 debuts this year. Wonder if I can beat that number this coming year.

  3. I'd love to participate, but we'll see how it goes... I love books, though, and this sounds kind of fun! I'm hoping to one day be on this list! :)

  4. I am definitely participating in this challenge. It was the first I signed up for! I bought The Water Wars last night at Barnes and Noble and am pretty much waiting for the New Year to start before I pick it up. I am counting it toward this challenge and a Dystopian Reading Challenge, so I need to wait for 2011 to start it.

I also have Across the Universe all pre-ordered and ready to come to me when it's released. I hope it lives up to the hype!

  5. I keep going back and forth on this challenge. I like the idea of it, but don't know if I actually want to commit to it...

  6. I don't know too much about debut authors. I read what I come across and find interesting and read my favorite authors. If I hear good things about a book I may give it a try.

  7. I am down for your list ... there a few I would add, though I always have to recheck to figure out whether or not an author I hear about is a debut author. Sometimes I wish they had a little star or something next to their names? Anyways, something worth thinking about: getting into this challenge. Thanks!

  8. Since I don't have a blog I won't be participating, but it sounds like a cool challenge. I'm surprised Wither wasn't on your list. I can.not.wait. for that one!

  10. I don't have a blog, so I don't usually follow challenges. I'm really looking forward to Divergent by Veronica Roth though!

  11. A lot of the books on your list are ones I want to read too :) I'm no good with keeping up with challenges so I won't be participating but good luck with the challenge!

  12. I'm not signing up but I will be participating lol. I'm always listening to audiobooks at work since I do data entry. Plus what I can read at home. FTW

  15. Oh Emily! I made your list (which is chockful of coolness).

I'll send Gae over to comment too - she loves to play on blogs.

  17. I've already read a couple through NetGalley and ARCs but I'm still looking forward to Entwined and Timeless... Not on your list though. :/ I actually haven't heard or looked up a lot on your list. My list for this debut is really short so I better start doing some research on upcoming books soon!

  19. (my husband informs me that being on your DAC list is not, in fact, an excuse to buy new clothes.)
