Hello and Welcome!

Red House Books is going through a bit of a update!

I've always had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted this space to be but I've been detoured from my path by...lots and lost of other people's opinions and ways of doing things...

I'm committed to this little chunk of the interweb but I've also branched out into other places so! Now it's time to think of Red House Books as more of a hub of all things me! And Me is a hell of a lot of book love!

Stay tuned!

2011 Audio Book Challenge

In 2010 I found myself listening to more audio books then in previous years combined. I plan on keeping up this trend in 2011 and what better way to motivate myself then an official challenge? :)

This year the 2011 Audio Book Challenge is being hosted by Teresa of Teresa's Reading Corner. Click the cute picture above to sign up for yourself!

There are 4 levels:

Curious -- 3 Audio Books
Fascinated -- 6 Audio Books
Addicted -- 12 Audio Books
Obsessed -- 20 Audio Books

I'm going for Obsessed! What about you? Do you like audio books?

  2. This sounds like a lot of fun! Unfortunately for me, I don't really process hearing the story as well as I do reading it, so I've never been much of an audiobook type of girl. Shame. I bet it's awesome. I can't wait to hear about your progress through this challenge on your blog in the upcoming months!

  3. I've actually only ever listened to one audio book, and like Jessica, listening to the story wasn't really for me. I hope you have good luck in this challenge, though!

  4. I've been debating about whether or not to sign up for this challenge. I listen to lots of audiobooks, but they're usually adult and not YA. And, my blog is fairly strictly YA only. And I'd like to keep it that way.

But, I am an audible.com member and could easily listen to a YA audiobook every now and again...And the little button for this challenge is so darned cute! Okay, I talked myself into it! I'll have to write my sign-up post sometime this weekend.

    Thanks for the audio-inspiration.

  5. I am trying to listen to an audiobook right now, and I just can't do it. I get bored and distracted and then I'm annoyed because I can read it a lot faster on my own than whoever is reading it...

Way to go though! I'm a little jealous of people who like audiobooks, because there are times when you just can't have a book...

  6. I don't like audio books. I want a book in my hands to feel it and smell its pages....

  7. This is a challenge I could definitely do! I commute from school to home for 4 hours each way every other week - the perfect time to chill out to some books on iPod! (Does not have the same ring as book on tape, amiright?)

Anyways, thanks for the head's up! :)

  8. I like some audio books. Sometimes the reader ruins the story though. Example: Graceling. The reader sounded angry and pissed off all the time, so I couldn't stand to listen to the book. I've been meaning to pick it up at read it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Same with 13 Reasons Why. So many people said that book was soooo good, but I couldn't stand the audio version.

  9. My mother loves audiobooks, but I haven't given them a try yet. Maybe this year.

  10. I've listened to one chapter of Tell Me a Secret, but I really don't care for audiobooks or e-books. Physical books rock :)

  14. I've listened to one audiobook all the way through. I've thought about listening to them instead of music when I'm cleaning or doing other things around the house. Maybe I will have to give them a try! Plus there's a book at my library I want to read and they only have it in audiobook form.

  16. I don't like audiobooks. I like being able to see the words and I get too distracted if I don't have something to follow with.

  17. I've never listened to an audio book before (except for the ones I was forced to listen to in .. elementary school). It doesn't sound like my kind of thing.
