Hello and Welcome!

Red House Books is going through a bit of a update!

I've always had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted this space to be but I've been detoured from my path by...lots and lost of other people's opinions and ways of doing things...

I'm committed to this little chunk of the interweb but I've also branched out into other places so! Now it's time to think of Red House Books as more of a hub of all things me! And Me is a hell of a lot of book love!

Stay tuned!

In My Mailbox - September 4, 2010

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren :)

Probably shouldn't have bought more books this week...but...well...I had a coupon...and...my friend wanted to go to the bookstore...and...the moon was aligned with Pluto? (wait, that's not a planet anymore) (wait, does it matter?)

anyway....

So what if I bought more books! hehehehe

Moving on!

Along with buying some books I've really been looking forward to, I received some for review that I'm also really excited for! (links are to Goodreads)

For Review - Thank you Bloomsbury!
Secondhand Charm by Julie Berry - release date: October 2010
(from publisher's website)
In a secluded village, magic sparkles on the edges of the forest. There, a young girl named Evie possesses unusually strong powers as a healer. A gypsy's charms—no more than trinkets when worn by others—are remarkably potent when Evie ties them around her neck. Her talents, and charms, have not escaped the notice of the shy stonemason's apprentice. But Evie wants more than a quiet village and the boy next-door. When the young king's carriage arrives one day, and his footman has fallen ill, Evie might just get her chance after all . . .

Hush by Eishes Chayil - release date September 2010
(from publisher's website)
Inside the closed community of Borough Park, where most Chassidim live, the rules of life are very clear, determined by an ancient script written thousands of years before down to the last detail—and abuse has never been a part of it. But when thirteen-year-old Gittel learns of the abuse her best friend has suffered at the hands of her own family member, the adults in her community try to persuade Gittel, and themselves, that nothing happened. Forced to remain silent, Gittel begins to question everything she was raised to believe.

The Twin's Daughter by Lauren Baratz-Logsted - release date September 2010
(from publisher's website)
Lucy Sexton is stunned when a disheveled woman appears at the door one day…a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to Lucy's own beautiful mother. It turns out the two women are identical twins, separated at birth, and raised in dramatically different circumstances. Lucy's mother quickly resolves to give her less fortunate sister the kind of life she has never known. And the transformation in Aunt Helen is indeed remarkable. But when Helen begins to imitate her sister in every way, even Lucy isn't sure at times which twin is which. Can Helen really be trusted, or does her sweet face mask a chilling agenda?

  4. I actually haven't read Mockingjay yet (WAIT, WHAT!) Lol. I want to read it on my own time and not rush through it; I doubt I'll review it because everyone else already has and... even if there weren't reviews for it, people would STILL go out and get it. It's just one of those books that you can't ignore.

Oooh, nice bought books! Paranormalcy is excellent and it'll look great on your shelf ;) Bloomsbury was really kind to you, haha. I can't wait to see what you think of every book displayed here! <3
