I picked up a copy of Crewel at BEA and then I received another one in the mail. The extra one needs a new home!
October 2012 from Farra, Straus and Giroux
(from Goodreads)
Incapable. Awkward. Artless.
That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.
Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.
Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.
Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.
Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.

ReplyDeleteI love how unique and mystical it sounds. I agree with Vivien as it looks very lyrical :D I realised that I entered and I'm not eighteen: disregard my entries! Sorry!

ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary! This sounds like a great read and that cover is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is gorgeous. And the premise is just strange enough - without being TOO weird - to catch my attention...Did I mention the cover is gorgeous? :o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!
Thanks for the giveaway, and happy blogoversary! I love dystopian novels as well as most other forms of speculative fiction, so of course I'm eagerly anticipating this book.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an awesome story.
ReplyDeletethe cover is very eye catching and it sounds like a really good book.

Everyone has been wanted to get this book at BEA. Also the cover is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover for this book a lot as I am always drawn to things with pretty colors. I'm also very curious about the Spinster angle and it sounds almost fairy-tale esque because of that; given that fairy tale retellings are one of my favorite YA sub-genres, I'd like to see how accurate that is.
ReplyDeleteI love the cover and I have heard a lot about it. I want to check it out!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversay! I'm excited about this book because I've never seen the subject before! Weaving matter with time!!?? Wow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about this because it sounds like a different take on the YA dystopia trend (which I already love), and the notion of weaving time with matter sounds wonderfully genre-blurring.
On a more shallow note, how beautiful is that cover?
I haven't heard of this book. The synopsis is really interesting and the cover looks ethereal
ReplyDeleteThe dystopian tone sounds unique compared to other dystopians, where the character either discovers or learns to defy the rule of society.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds like NOTHING I've ever heard of before. Spinsters? Weaving time? I've heard nothing but good things and I am DESPERATE to get my hands on an ARC. Thank you for this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that this book is so unique it's scary. It's unlike other dystopians because of the intricacy needed to describe the weaving and such. Every time I see a review for it, I beg for it a little more! lol
ReplyDeletesounds very interesting, not like anything I have read before, not really, my kind of book though. thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cover! The story sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the cover is gorgeous! The synopsis sounds interesting also.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!
