Hello and Welcome!

Red House Books is going through a bit of a update!

I've always had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted this space to be but I've been detoured from my path by...lots and lost of other people's opinions and ways of doing things...

I'm committed to this little chunk of the interweb but I've also branched out into other places so! Now it's time to think of Red House Books as more of a hub of all things me! And Me is a hell of a lot of book love!

Stay tuned!

In My Mailbox - September 3, 2011

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren :)

No vlog this week because it would take me WAY TOO LONG to show you everything.
Bought a done of books these last couple of weeks and got a few other goodies too!

Links are to Goodreads :)

Bought:
Mermaid by Carolyn Turgeon
WHY? I'm loving the mermaid stories lately and this one is said to be "A Twist on the Classic Tale" - and it's not young adult like I previously thought. AND it was like $3 at Borders :)

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
WHY? I've never actually read this one...and I need to do something about that fact!

Shimmer (Riley Bloom #2) by Alyson Noel
WHY? I have Evermore and Radiance (Riley Bloom #1) but I've never read anything by Alyson before - hoping to motivate myself :)

Thirst No. 3 The Eternal Dawn by Christopher Pike
WHY? One of my favorite authors and I love how they have republished this series in omnibus form.

Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler
WHY? If you've never read one of Octavia's books, you really are missing out! I've read this one but didn't own it. Love the new printing.

Trance by Linda Gerber
WHY? It was on sale and I remember wanting to read it - anyone read this one? How is it?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Volume 2 (Halloween Rain, Bad Bargain, Afterimage) by Christopher Golden, Nancy Holder, Diana G. Gallagher and Pierce Askegren
WHY? I was never a huge Buffy fan but I love Joss Whedon and I'm hoping reading the stories will cause me to want to rewatch the show :) And this book was like 2 bucks and it's signed by Nancy Holder - very cool!

The Line by Teri Hall
WHY? Read it and loved it! Now I have my own copy.

The Candidates (Delcroix Academy #1) by Inara Scott
WHY? A 2010 debut book I didn't have a chance to read last year.

Hourglass by Myra McEntire
WHY? Honestly? I own an ARC but I couldn't resist the soft cover of the finished copy! hehehe

The Shepherd's Tale (Serenity #3) The Graphic Novel by Joss Whedon, Zack Whedon and Chris Samnee
WHY? More Joss Whedon love :) I have and have read the first 2 Graphic Novels and they are fabulous. If you're a fan of Firfly - these are must have books!

Gifted in exchange for shipping
The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
WHY? I love mythology and this one sounds fabulous.

The Hollow by Jessica Verday
WHY? A creepy tale that has been on my wishlist for a while

The Soul Screamers Series by Rachel Vincent
My Soul to Take, My Soul to Save, My Soul to Keep, My Soul to Steal, If I Die
WHY? I really really want to finish this series! Book 1 was fabulous.

Ghostgirl Series by Tonya Hurley
Ghostgirl, Homecoming and Lovesick
WHY? My sister loves this series and the books themselves are very visually appealing. So happy to own them all!

Between starting and ending this post I actually bought even more books...but you can see those next week ;)

So! What's in your mailbox?

  1. Oooh, The Line. I'm jealous. :)

I think Parable of the Talents (it's either that one or Sower) is the only Octavia Butler I've read, but I really enjoyed it.

  3. Trance, The Line, and The Goddess Test sound really good! I'll have to move them up my to-buy list if my library doesn't get them soon.

I really liked My Soul to Take, but was more than a little disappointed with the sequel. Hope you have better luck with the series!

    Happy reading!

  14. So glad you're going to read Speak. One of my favorites- Anderson is such a talented writer. Every high school student should have to read that book while they're in school. Can't wait to see how Hourglass is.
